AVSystem and wolfSSL partner to secure IoT devices with DTLS 1.3 & Post-Quantum Cryptography

26 August 2026, KRAKOW, Poland / EDMONDS, Washington – AVSystem, a globally recognized expert in Internet of Things Device Management, announced a strategic collaboration with wolfSSL, the leading provider of embedded security solutions.

This partnership brings full support for the Datagram Transport Layer Security 1.3 standard to AVSystem’s flagship Coiote IoT Device Management, equipping IoT deployments, including SMGW management with next-generation security, efficiency, and future-proof protection.

As enterprises and public sectors rapidly scale their connected fleets, integrating wolfSSL's cryptographic engine brings certifiable, high-performance security across every device class from constrained edge modules to compliance-critical gateways. The collaboration delivers several critical advantages:

  • Enterprise-grade compliance: The integration ensures Coiote IoT DM meets the highest cybersecurity benchmarks out-of-the-box, further allowing critical infrastructure operators and highly regulated industries to deploy fleets with absolute confidence.
  • Ultra-lightweight footprint: Built specifically for embedded environments, wolfSSL operates on a fraction of the memory of traditional libraries (as little as 20–100 kB). Backed by rigorous FIPS 140-3 and aviation-grade RTCA DO-178C validations, and explicitly recommended by hardware vendors like Renesas, it allows even the smallest sensors to run robust encryption without exhausting battery life.
  • Enhanced network efficiency: The leap to DTLS 1.3 significantly streamlines communication. It cuts connection handshake times by up to 50% in latent networks and halves bandwidth consumption when recovering dropped packets, directly translating to extended device lifespans and lower operational costs.
  • Post-quantum readiness: Beyond immediate efficiency gains, the partnership’s forward-looking architecture lays the groundwork for post-quantum cryptography, ensuring that devices deployed today remain secure against the advanced computing threats of the future.

"Security and performance are non-negotiable for our clients," said Magdalena Orlikowska, Product Portfolio Manager at AVSystem. "Integrating wolfSSL's DTLS 1.3 and post-quantum capabilities into Coiote IoT DM ensures our customers easily meet strict Federal security standards, while keeping their device fleets lightweight, efficient, and future-proof."

"Our cryptographic engine is built to deliver maximum security with a minimal footprint," added Todd Ouska, CEO of wolfSSL. "Pairing this capability with AVSystem’s highly scalable platform gives enterprises a powerful, incredibly efficient way to manage their IoT deployments, both today and well into the post-quantum era."
